Nets Offer Tickets, Job Fair to Unemployed - NJBIZ

EAST RUTHERFORD - The New Jersey Nets are launching an unusual marketing strategy The basketball team is offering free tickets to unemployed professionals in exchange for their r�sum�. All r�sum�s will be forwarded to the Nets' commercial sponsors, and the unemployed fans will be invited to a career fair the team is sponsoring, the Nets announced last week.

'Unemployment is on the rise in the metropolitan area, so we want to offer our fans that are between jobs some help in finding a job - as well as a chance to relieve some stress by coming to a Nets game,' said Brett Yormark, Nets chief executive. 'We are committed to investing in our fans now, and hopefully they will invest in us when times are better.'

The Nets' career fair will occur before their Nov. 22 game against the Los Angeles Clippers at the Izod Center.

Job seekers can gain access to many employers, including sports teams, businesses, and Nets partners such as UPS, Haler America, TD Bank, Emblem Health, Coca-Cola Enterprises and Valley Health System, according to the team.

The Nets will then release 300 tickets per game on a first-come, first-served basis for fans who enroll in the program -Scott Goldstein
